Hi all,

I have a 2002 Dmax 85,000km on it and babied since new. Just noticed in the last month or so that it smokes excessively when idling. Is this the sign of the injectors failing? Air filter seems okay and the fuel filters were replaced this past winter. One other thing it is chipped with the Edge, could the Edge be failing.

Take the Edge off and take to the Stealer for Injector rate check.

If it is white smoke at idle, then yes this was the first sign I encountered when my injectors failed.
As Roadking stated, remove your edge and get dealer to check balance rates.

Well took it to the shop and 1 injector is gone so 8 new ones going in tommorrow under warranty. Hopefully it will last another 85 k or so.

My truck about a year and a half ago smoked huge amounts of blue smoke on idle for about a week. Got the entire engine checked, they could find no problems. They even showed me with a Tech 2 that my injectors were ok.

I changed the oil the next day, and have never seen the smoke since.

My truck is doing this too, it wasn't before I changed my oil. I changed my oil 2 days before I took it on a 1400 round trip and noticed while I was fueling that it was smoking. The other day I was sitting at a drive up and had a plume of smoke blowing past my passenger side window.

Mine was injector #8, Gm replaced all 8 under warranty for me, 93000 miles.
