I have a 97 F-350 Powerstroke. It seems like about the time the thermostat is opening ( I say that because it is a few minutes after starting ) the truck will start to lunge. I have to eather let off a little or give it more fuel for it to stop. Any ideas?

First thing is it an automatic or manual Trans? Does it continue after you have run the truck for awhile or is it a one time thing (after the first set of lunging does it go away or not?) If it does not go away can you make it do the same thing by holding the accelerator pedal in the same spot?

It is an automatic trans. ( New Jasper about 6 months old) It doesn't do it after it warms up. It is a once a day thing unless it is real cold.

Thanks

Sounds like the exhaust back pressure valve, does the exhaust sound fuuny also?

If so that would be normal.

Yes you will get a hissing noise out of the exhaust
