I am not quite sure what has happened here with the aftermarket stuff......it seemed like for a long time there was nothing out there for the Duramax, but all of the sudden it looks like there are quite a few options.......

I am going to assume that the Duramax engineers decided to add a dual mass flywheel for a good reason.....diesel spike, noise, drivability, etc.

What I am looking for is a setup that is as close to stock (noise, drivability, feel) as I can get, while still being able to hold the LB7 + a 70 horse VA box. Thats it! No big power here, just a little over stock.

It looks like this new flywheel I just got from the dealer is not going to have a long life......does this mean that I can just replace the flywheel, or do I need to have a new clutch done too?

How willing are dealers to put in aftermarket parts instead of GM parts? Im under the warranty for engine (flywheel) but not the clutch.....

Thanks

Some dealers will do install of aftermarket parts. You just need to check around.

The new SBC SMF/SDC kit with an organic sprung hub will hold ~500rwhp and will be driveable, quiet, and will abosorb a lot of diesel spike. Will last a long, long time.

Is the difference between that and stock noticable? I have to do some city driving every now and then and I would like to keep it driveable.....

Also how much does that setup cost?

Thanks

I have not driven one but I expect to be doing an install and test in a couple weeks. Based on a discussion with Peter, an orgainic customer was extremely happy with the performance you are concerned about.

The kit costs $1100.

OH!!! I was under the impression that they were more......thats cool.

I just got back from another little towing run........with the VA on 70, I can get a hard clutch pedal that sticks down every time I got on it......but when I turn it off it seems to work fine. So I guess that means no more VA.......unless something goes and makes the pedal hard all the time......because I dont think the dealer will want to dig into it if it has anything to do with a power box.

Once you get your SBC installed the VA will work fine and you will have no hard pedal problem (is a DMF cause).
