: Denali front installed on my 2500HD
igork5k20 07-04-2006, 01:06 PM Hey everybody - I just finished installing a Denali front on my 2002 2500HD crew this weekend. It looks awesome - here are the pics...
Before (this is an older photo)

After

Brackets I made for the fog lights.. (stock aftermarket Denali bracket on the left - mine on the right - the holes on the bottom right are in case I had to mount the light 180 degrees opposite from the location shown.

I had to swap the towhooks left to right and drill new holes - this worked very slick - as the back of the towhook is wedged tightly between the blocker beam tube & the top of the frame rail - so I did not drill the top of the frame

Also made brackets to lift the outer ends of the bumper - you can also see the core support trimming I had to do to get stuff to fit.

dmaxalliTech 07-04-2006, 01:12 PM Looks good!
I was curious your approach on this, I have a customers truck here now with a Denali front and there looks to be alot of fabbing involved, I had to unbolt it all (pulled the motor) so I got to see how it all went togather
igork5k20 07-04-2006, 01:16 PM Here is the frame bracket I had to get around with the fog lights

igork5k20 07-04-2006, 01:17 PM Thanks...
This was definitely not an easy project - the foglights were by far the hardest thing to overcome. The one thing I did not get a pic of was the spacer brackets I made to lift the Denali bumper up off the stock frame towers. But they were simply 1-1/2" square tubing with .75" thick spacers to lift it up a little bit more - I went a 1/4" taller than the 2" difference in frame height, to get the Denali bumper tighter to the grille - my friend has a 2005 Denali that I used quite a bit for reference.
It helps that I'm an engineer and I have access to CAD & a full fab shop.
Here are a whole bunch more pics...

dmaxalliTech 07-04-2006, 01:24 PM I could easily see the access to a cad shop in the fog light brackets.. looks like a cnc plasma or lazer was used to.
igork5k20 07-04-2006, 01:34 PM Yeah - we have 4 Trumpf lasers at my work - still had to do a little massaging to fit around the Denali inner bumper.
Overall - I'm very pleased at how the whole thing turned out - only regret is I have to run a front license plate in Oregon - and I really wanted to leave the front plate off. I softened the blow a little by painting the license plate holder - but I need something along the top of the license plate to frame it better than those two ugly screws.
Duratys 07-04-2006, 01:43 PM Definately looks good. Nice Job. Would you consider fabbing and selling the brackets needed to do this?
ZR1160 07-04-2006, 01:54 PM Excellent work, you should consider building a conversion kit, now that your brackets are on CAD files. Very nice truck.
BlkGMCDMax 07-04-2006, 02:41 PM Badass transformation:cool2:
Bodysurfer 07-04-2006, 02:48 PM Looks good! Great job. :thumb:

Diesel_Day_Dreamin 07-05-2006, 12:15 AM That turned out nice... I wanted to do that until I saw the fabrications needed. I miss my machine shop days.
Good job!
Dr_goodwrench66 07-05-2006, 11:58 AM Looks very nice...Now I'm thinking!! Love the red!:ro)
igork5k20 07-05-2006, 12:36 PM Red is the only color - I agree!
andym1996 07-05-2006, 10:36 PM I inquired to my body shop about this transformation... It looks as though there is some differences even from an 03 GMC... Can any one answer if it would be easier or more difficult to do this denali conversion to my 03 2500HD??
soopretty 07-05-2006, 11:05 PM exactly the same because their is no change in mounts as far as i knoe
NorCal 2500HD 07-05-2006, 11:13 PM looks great!!...
Diesel Pilot 07-14-2006, 10:07 AM  Why doesn't GM make a HD denali? That thing looks awesome!
Did you use all new parts or salvage to keep the cost down?
Again, that truck looks amazing.
igork5k20 08-25-2006, 02:02 PM The grille, headlights, turn signals, license plate holder, and trim pieces behind the grille (under the turn signals) were all new from the dealer - along with the little plastic pop rivets.
The inner bumper was a wrecked one from a bumper salvage place
The outer bumper was off E-bay used.
Still very happy with it - everyone thinks I bought a new Denali now - need to lift it next but can't see spending thousands of dollars to just get up in the air higher...

jmbfin 08-29-2006, 01:25 AM  Why doesn't GM make a HD denali? That thing looks awesome!
I agree. If Ford can sell a King Ranch Super Duty, GM could definitely sell Denali HD's.
kylant 08-29-2006, 10:01 AM Ben,
Where's my handle?Censored;):D

2006LBZ 08-29-2006, 11:10 AM Well after all that hard work and money spent, you DESERVE to have Denali badges on the doors and tailgate. I almost bought denali badges for my doors, but decided not to be a poser. In your case, you have created a Denali, so you are entitled to do it.
Very nice job, and awesome looking truck!
When does the Denali steering wheel go in?
