Just wanted to see what everyone else was experiencing concerning the shifting on a 2005 Silverado 2500HD crew cab with the duramax. I had a 2003 and the truck in general ran a whole lot better than this one first of all. But specifically the truck seems to shift kind of funny compared to my 2003. I have and edge chip with the attitude monitor, and whenever the chip is on no matter what the transmission setting is on it seems to hang when shifting between gears. It kind of hard to explain but it seems as if the truck shifts into neutral between shifts and allows the motor to rev up between shifts then engage again. The net result is that it doesnt accelerate nearly like it should because there are these long pauses between shifts. I should mention that my 2003 was setup nearly identically to this one and didnt display any of these shifting concerns. It will also do it in any power mode that the chip is set to, it seems the motor has plenty of power output but cant get it to the ground well. Please help!!:ro)

I have the same deal, but only with the Edge set on 2. The others seem to work much better. You might want to send the Edge back for a new box. It may help you a bit. Also, I just switched to EFILive and I've run a couple of tunes from the repository as well as Trippin's tow tune (free with purchase of EFI from him). ALL of those tunes have resulted in the tranny shifting much firmer. SO, I have to think it has something to do with the Edge box.

That pause between shifting is called, "Defueling" and it does this so the converter can lockup w/out any torque, thus the tranny can live a long"er" life. With all that torque, slaming/Harder shifting will take little time to destroy the transmission.Thats why you get defueling. Its normal. And the edge only...adds to the defuel process,(Defuel on locked shifts) if you will. But it wont take it away.

Im sure it shifts just fine STOCK.Plus the newer trucks have a learning tranny. So everytime you change power setting it has to relearn.
