Hi All, well pulled the trigger this weekend;traded in the Suburban for an 06 LBZ/CC/SB.
A couple o' questions;
The truck is being delivered from a about 200 miles away, I expect it may have about 300 miles or so when I get it.
We are leaving on a trip Friday 7/7, towing the camper about 300 miles. Should I be concerned about towing with less than the recomended 500 miles on the odo?
I will take it easy (55 mph max, vary speed...)
I like to run Mobil 1 in my vehicles, does the LBZ come with synthetic from the factory? I saw this mentioned somewhere...
Thanx, Bill

Congrats on the new truck. As far as I know, GM does not put synthetic oil in their trucks. I think only the rear diff has synthetic in it. Make sure you check the rear diff. It is usually low on fluid from the factory - mine was nearly 1 qt. low. I always change motor oil after first 1,000 miles on a new vehicle. I will then put in synthetic oil. The owners manual says no towing until 500 miles are on truck and then do not drive over 55 for first 500 miles of towing.

The no towing for 500 miles comes from the rear end heat generated during break in. If you're going a long way, might want to stop for a while once in a while and let it cool down.

Well, I was in the same situation, though you may be towing more than I did this past weekend. I bought the truck on Thursday, put 500 miles on it in one day for the break-in. Then, I hitched up my 4,500lb boat/trailer following the towing break-in recommendations (first 500 towing miles <= 55mph).

srode-good idea. I don't have much choice except to leave for vacation as soon as I get the truck. Stopping along the way to cool down is a good idea...

I pulled my 6400# trailer from MI to FL with only 1400 miles on my truck. I did notice a gear oil smell with the back slider window open when we got into FL. The paint on the cover was blistered and it was obvious the rearend got hot. Of course I had to add the missing qt of gear oil once I got to FL and then changed it out after I got home. I only got 5000 miles out of the right axle seal also, I doubt if it was related but you never know.
