I am beginning to prepare for a SBC SMF SDC setup. I acquired a new slave cylinder, and flywheel bolts. Next I need the tool for the bolts, hence the question and a transmission jack.
Then, I'll be ready to enjoy trouble free driving with a relaible clutch!

14mm Allen drive. I used a SK 1/2 drive one form the local autoparts store.

i used a snap on flywheel tool to keep the engine from turning while a buddy used a breaker bar to spin the second half of the flywheel so the holes lined up and a third buddy broke the bolts loose, hope you have a lift and lots of help (for this part only) IIRC the bolts are @ around 180ft lbs, and the socket is a 14MM Allen!!!!
Jugghack is right about the ugly faces but feel free to curse also!!!!!
Good luck!

I milled up a block of steel and used a bell housing bolt to hold it in place. It locked the flywheel in place by engaging a ring gear tooth. I used a ratchet strap wrapped around the frame with the other end hooked to an old pressure plate bolt. I just tightened it up to align holes. 3/4 drive breaker bar and lots of cuss words I managed to get all six bolts loose. Last some good buddies to help and some cold beers to pay them when with it’s all done. .:beerchug:
The best part is that you never have to worry about trashing another crappy DMF. :ro) :ro) :ro)

Well, I have at least one big plus - a lift in the garage.
Its always good to make unrealistic deals with your dad! He always said, you build the house, and I'll buy the lift!
My wife and I moved into our dream house Nov of 2004. I ordered the lift shortly thereafter! This thing will pay for itself within a few years. As an added bonus, since I can store one car on the lift and one car under it, a certain, very special one owner 71 Camaro SS has come to live in my garage!

If you cant find a 14mm tool touch a 9/16 one on the grinder a time or to
and it will work just fine as well...
I use a 3/4 drive tool and impact to remove the bolts.... then there is no need to hold the flywheel from turning....
As for lining up the bolts with the holes for removle of a sprung flywheel... use a pry-bar or long punch to pry it till the holes line up....then back one flywheel bolt out part way so the head of it keeps the 2 parts of the flywheel in line while you remove the rest of them.......then remove the last one and LOOK THE HELL OUT...it could spring back hard and / or fall off on you toe.....
Hope that helps..... Evan
