I traded for a new 06 GMC CC Duramax three months ago, great deal, nice truck lots of power, exactly what I needed...except its black.
I haven't owned a black vehicle since the 80's and had forgotten how high maintenance they are.
Short story, I took advantage of the rebates and swapped my black GMC for a white Chevy, same options etc. only cost me $4000 to trade.

Too bad...I love my Big Black Monster...although detailing nearly 22 feet of Chevy is tiring!

Try a three step polishing of a 25 foot boat for a tiring task. Works out to be about a 3 evening job at 6+ hrs a day. But when you bring the shine from about 1 inch to 10 inches it's worth it.

I've always owned black vehicles, and got used to dealing with the maintenance involved. Nothing looks better than a clean black truck.
When buying my 06, I went for a black LT2 over a silver birch LT3.

That was a tough call for me. I ordered my 2000 Silverado in black, and it was the first black vehicle I have owned. It was great, but a lot of work. So, when I bought the 06, there were 2 almost identical trucks, a black one and the greystone. I was really leaning toward the black again, just because it looked great at the dealer. Then, my wife kindly reminded me how much I complained every time I had to wash the the old truck, and the fact that black looks dirty in a hurry. So, we made the decision on the greystone.

I still love the look of a clean black truck, but for me, greystone was the way to go. I love it.

Black is a ***** to maintain for sure. But it looks great when it is washed and waxed.
