I've been looking through some of the Garages, but havn't found any pics of trucks with 255/85s on them. I like the 255/85 on my old ford, but cant decide between them and 285/75 for the new truck.

Thanks, Jeff

Click on the link in my signature "MY PICS" I have some pics of the 255's on my '01 Chevy. I haven't got around to taking any on the '05. If you are not buying rims I would definately get the 255's because they fit the factory rims very well. It is kind of an odd size and is hard to find. I will likely get 265's when these where out. You can feel the sidewalls flex if you corner very fast:eek:. Great winter tire, thats what I have mine for. I have towed my gooseneck up to 10K with them just fine, if you can get them in an E rating get 'em. Mine are D rated, 3000lbs at 65 PSI. 285's are to wide for factory rims. The forged aluminum factory rims are only 6.5" wide. All 285's require a 7.5" rim width minimum.

Hey, Dirt Farmer . . . I think you'll find that many, many of us are & have been running the 285s on the 6.5" factory alloys with absolutely no problems whatsoever - just take a look/search around here & decide for yourself - there's plenty of discussion(s) on the use of 285s . . .

:exactly: and most 285's call for a 7" wheel. so imo a half inch doesn't make that much difference

 I was wondering what the heck it was too...I think it's a snake with it's mouth open.

Lots of people run 285's...never heard of any problems.

I'm not worried about putting 285s on my stock wheels, I had 285s on my 6.5" alcoas on the ford before the 255s that are on it now. I'm just not sure what look I wanna go for with this truck, and if I wanna do any bumper trimming to get the tires to fit right. I may just go with 265/75s for now and upgrade on my next set.

Thanks, Jeff

Looks like a cotton mouth snake.....Yikes!!

Oh, and I think the 285 calls for a minimum 7.5" wheel.

Heartbeat Hauler is correct, so is Max attitude. It's a cottonmouth. Or as my friends from the city call them anacondas or no shoulders. Either way their everywhere here. For those of you that have never had the pleasure of meeting one, i hope you never have to. They go to bed mad and wake up mad. I was wondering if anyone else could tell what it was. Sorry to hijack your thread Dirt_Farmer.

Yeah, I have seen that view a few more times than I care to say...I remember floating up to a levee bank in a flatbottom boat and my dad calmly saying "hold on just a second" and pulling out his Ruger single six 357 mag and shooting one in the mouth, in the air, mid-strike, then re-holstering, and saying "ok, boys, take me on to the bank." What made it particularly funny was that my friend and I just had another one actually advance towards us...we freaked and emptied a .45 and a semi-auto .22 (total of 19 rounds) into it, while dad just used one shot. Pretty funny.

Oh, and on topic, I have some 255's super swampers on my 1995 in my garage. I know you are probably looking for pics of HD's but these may help a little...
