So you're putting a 14bolt in the 1/2ton?

Things to think about.

Want a simple 14bolt? Find a semi floater light duty 3/4 ton rear. Lots of them ended up under z71's. Only thing you might have to change would be the spring mounts.

But if you're going through the trouble. Find a full floating 14 bolt. If you want the track to match widths closer front and rear. Find a 14 bolt from a van. (you'll have to move the spring mounts though)

Gearing? you'll need to regear the front end as well. Or match it.

Speaking of the front end. You can convert your 1/2 axle into a 3/4 ton by swapping the caliper mounts, spindles, rotors, and hubs. (everything from the knuckle flange out)

To explain the different axles..

Here's the best pick

Hubs will have the floating axles sticking out.

the semi floater

the hubs will be flat in the center. comes in 6 or 8 lug.

thanx PA I think the one I'm getting is the semifloater,a guy I work with said he'd sell it to me for $30.00. Didn't think I could pass on a deal like that? So I understand I have to have the same gear in front and rear but what would be the best compromise gear for good MPG'S AND performance? I don't haul much but I wan't to have atleast SOME ability to tow,and around here mostly mudding not much rockcrawling so the higher spin for tread clearing would be more important than the super low gear for crawl? Thanx in advance:)

Beware
the Van and the k-10 pick-up are not the same at all.

The Van is wider IIRC 3 inch and the leaf spring need to be relocate.
It hapen to me few mont ago with a 3.08 gov lock from my van i try to swap in my c-10.

But a heart transplant is possible and if you can't do it yourself ,not very expensive:)

Yep, that's what I was talking about with the spring mounts. Not a big deal if you've got a torch and a welder.

The plus to a van axle is the width matching closer front and rear.

3.42 or 3.73 if you want to tow. Odds are good that the semi floaters are those ratios.

If you want to run 35's with the 700r4, you will need 4.10's. These are the perfect gears for 35's and still give good cruising in od.;)

Crap, I didn't read the 35" part. Yeah you'll want 4.11's.
