I am new to this Forum and this is my first Diesel Truck, so please bear with me! lol
So I just picked up a New 06 2500HD, when I picked it up it had 11 hours and 80 miles on it. I noticed a little but didnt pay much attention to it around 100 miles but now (a week later) it has 500 miles on it and still has a valve knock on the top right bank of cylnders. (almost sounds like a lifter that sticks periodically but not sure what this sounds like on a diesel) What would cause this? I havnt had it over 2500 RPM since I have had it and kept it under 75mph. Since its 32V motor is this a DOHC motor or is it pushrod? I am not sure since I am new to the setup and mainly work on older muscle cars. (Go - Oldsmobile! lol)
I brought it in for service and had them take a look at it and they told me that they noticed it, documented it and have noted it in the computer as something to watch but they want to let the motor "break in first" before they start digging deep into it and are waiting for the computer to throw a code. Its not a constant tap or matches with engine revolutions its spuratic and is audiably noticable above the diesel idle noise.
Has anybody experienced this? or is there anything that I can do for a pre-emptive strike before things go off on the deep end and they try and blow it off or put the blame on user error??
Thanks! :help:
