Is it the fuel filter not filtering down to the right micron level? Dirty Fuel/water in the fuel? I just had my injectors replaced and the truck runs great. The dealer said it is caused by dirty fuel. I told him that the fuel filter is not doing its job then. Should I get a aux. fuel filter? Whats the deal?

The way I understood it, there were two different problems. Some of the injectors were developing cracks in the injector bodies. I don't know that GM or Bosch ever came out and said why. I assume that it was a manufacturing defect but duh. The second was a wear problem. The check ball or what ever you call it in the tip of the injector is very small. With the high pressure injection systems that we have combined with low quailty fuel and filtering, the injector can wear out very quickly. I remember reading articles stating that particles as low as 3 or 4 microns was causing problems. Even 2 micron filters allow a few of these particles by so it's tuff to correct. One article by Bosch said this wear problem was much improved by adding lubricity to the fuel. So IMO buy fuel from a reputable dealer, use a good quality additive and get a second good quailty fuel filter. Doing this is no garranty that you still won't have injector problems but you've done what you can and I'm certain it will help. As stated you can do a search for injectors or Bosch nd you find hours of reading.......Just as a side note there are a number of members who have done nothing and not had any injector problems. Some who had problems had secondary filtering so as said no garranty. There was at least one poll done on this subject. If you search for Bosch you should run into it ( it's over a year ago now )
