Drilled and tapped for my boosta gauge yesterday. Easiest place I decided was the cast aluminum peice on the upstream side of the grid heater. Peice that that plastic peice connects with just after the intercooler. Decided on that becasue it was the easiest thing to get off. Actually I couldnt get it off too easy so I opted to remove that plastic elbow and let the chips fall down and clean it after the fact. Poped the elobow off and there was a bunch of oil in the tube and in the cast peice. Like it almost dripped out the end of the cast peice. Truck only has 10k on it.
I'm going to put rerouting the PCV to atmosphere on my list of things to do. The inside of the intake peices I saw were all COVERED in oil.

I though the primary oil source is from being sucked out of the turbo?

Pull the intake tube off and look way down inside the elbow that leads into the turbo with a flashlight where the pcv enters, you'll see oil everywhere leading into the turbo. Good reason to hack the pcv and vent it outside.

I posted about trying to do this on an LBZ in the DIY forum (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1044912#post1044912). The CCV piping is now hard plastic, which means you can't bend it upwards to vent it elsewhere. I'd like to find a solution, as well. Any ideas?

I havent even looked into what it will take. I am going to have it dump to a regular catchcan/breather set up like found on race cars and such. Plus it will be some cool aluminum under my hood for some :bling:

What to do with your PCV:

Can be used to capture oil that would be lost to the atmosphere. Lots of talk about these in the TDI forums. Look for the Mann Provents.

i just capped where it enters the turbo and ran heater hose over each side of the engine bay and onto the ground

Do you have any issues with oil dripping from the pipe on the driveway like the older cummins used to do?

I know mine had quite a bit of oil leaking out. I had air/water separater but it still blew past it. Started leaking on the drieway so I returned it back to stock.

If you restrict the flow it will flow threw the separater. I had a 3/8 separater and it sprayed oil all over. up sized my flow to 3/4 open to a collector with a 1 1/2 breather, now i dont get much oil in the collector at all.
