Both of them ran pretty good. The broad torque curve of the VA 200+ makes for a pretty strong 1/4 run.

I had fun playing with the ricers anyway..... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I must be getting old because one of them told me I had a sick truck and I had to think about it for a bit to realize it was a compliment. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Maybe he thought that because of all the smoke your truck was sick. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

Thanks for posting this. I enjoy watching duramax races.

Brandon, gotta love that torque curve on that big VA huh? Nicest dyno curve I have seen in some time on a box. I know that box and some recent injectors were good for shaving 2/32 tread of Johns Michelins......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Nope, no stack. That was a solo pass with the VA 200 + and then another solo pass with just the Quad 225 tune.

I was trying to see how much you can do with just a single box or tune.

Eric,

I bet those injectors do the trick! Gotta get me a set of those puppies. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

I'm 1.5 miles from the wireless tower, and SUPPOSEDLY the only one with problems. Others are 5-6 miles away...

Dave,

After the smoke cleared and the slicks stopped screaming at me http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif the best I could muster was a 13.2 pass. I was trying a new tire and some other mods and they just were not holding. I could destroy the slicks with ease stacked or with a single box.

It was nice making a full pass with the 215/145 stack with no hiccups, though.

Good thing I still have my other ones that do work. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Put up a tower. Well worth it. We had to bring a dsl connection in from 10 miles away. It cost a lot of money but in this day and age you can't do business without high speed.

I've got a tower, and an air bridge... I believe that I am up about 40' or so, and at similar elevation to the surrounding terrain...

The plan is to try 5.8 gig backhaul as there is supposedly a lot of 2.4 gig traffic in area...

Rather than steer this thing off course, drop me an email if need be...

Brandon, Can you get the 60ft times and such? It would be nice to see "where" the traction was lost and then compare the numbers. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Rich,

60' times were anywhere from 1.9 to 2.2 all day. I have all the slips and I am going to put together a spreadsheet for a bit better analysis.

I have cut 1.7 60' times on my other slicks and those can likely be improved with some other tweaks.

A 225 Quad? Damn, I keep missing out on the good stuff. Just got my 215 back from a reflash and near as I can tell it's not a 225. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif How can I be sure? Guess I'll call Quad tomorrow.

Injectors would be nice but 32K psi like the Audi (ours is 26k) would be even better....er... with proper fuel filtration and a pump. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I just called them, and they say there is no 225 version. Perhaps some people are refering to the new 215 tune as the 225 because of the added power and torque. On another thread, someone even mentioned a Quad 235.

It is a little confusing. It is the new 1.20 215 tune that I have but when programming it on the truck the Quad tuner lists it as the 225 tune. You also get the little message that says "When installing the 225 tune use of a pyrometer is recommended".

That being said, my old one lists the 215 tune as the 165 extreme or some junk like that. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Of course, being a simple hick from Georgia the numbers don't add up for me anyway. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

It's basically a revision of the 215. It has lots of fuel down low, much improved torque, and similar HP numbers/curve shape. The dyno plot for this tune is posted in the Xcelerator thread.

Should be good with some nitrous to help use up the extra fuel in the bottom end.

May need a module to cap boost signal. In some cases when run solo, we have seen boost codes. I've got a solution, OR just put on a VA or Edge module.

Most reports have indicated that it does not stack well. This has been my finding as well. Part of what we are up against is limitations of the fuel, AND air/turbo exhaust flow.

Don't feel bad Brandon.....you are not alone....

I have ran the 215 and 225 at the track and they don't run any better than a custom 165, or whatever I supposedly had.

....with that said, mine said 150hp extreme, but it said "when installing the 215 tune...." when I was loading it too..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif.....go figure....either way they are all noisey as hell!!!

But don't worry, he is working on it and they are testing themhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif.....hehehe.

Truth be told, the new QZ 215 (or whatever it is being called) tune has tamed down the rattle in the timing, and surginess.

I'm not going to write novels about it, or jump up and down about the thing, but it HAS made serious advancements.

BMDMAX

I have ran the old 215 tune as a daily driver for almost the last year. Yes it has rattles. Yes it has surges. Was I mislead about it? Nope. I was told up front it is not a daily driver for everyone and that work was being done to smooth it up a bit.

The new tune delivers just that. I have ran it for a few days for comparision. No rattle or surge. Drives really nice. No apparent change in performance from what I can see trackwise. It smokes like a freight train down low. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif It does not like to stack from my testing.

The tuning process is much improved on the new version as well. I guess that is all I got to say about that. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

BMDMAX,

are you running tranny upgrades? and if so what upgrades? I recently bought a banks power kit and would hate to trash the tranny clutches drag racing. Banks claims the kit runs +155 hp and +385 tq. do you think running my truck at level six with the speed loader will trash the tranny? the truck has 47k on it and was completely stock before the power kit.

BMDMAX

IB,

I do have tranny upgrades. I have a Suncoast setup but you will find that tranny's are as controversial as say, fuel filters.

Generally speaking about 90 HP is the limit before you start running into trouble. The Banks kit is supposed to have some protection features that will try to keep your tranny safe and I have not heard of anyone limping their truck with Banks power upgrades. I would guess you would be okay for some drag racing but just use some common sense and pay attention to what the truck is telling you, you will know when to back off. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I drag raced my truck on the stock tranny with the HJ 125 for quite a while before my upgrade so the Ally will take some abuse but if you really want to race a bunch and beat on it, get a performance tranny. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
