Seeing I cant find this in a search , what number in the vin tells me what engine I have ? LLY OR LBZ ?

And what the numbers represent , thankyou.

Yup, I'm pretty sure the vin stuff is somewere listed in the LBZ motor forum witch is were I'm going to move it. :)
Another way to tell is you should have a sticker under the hood that says 360HP and if so you have a LBZ. Its in with a bunch other emmision info and kinda hidden. Think its on the air cleaner.
Or look in the list of RPO codes(sticker in glove box) and see if it says LBZ or LLY

8th digit from the left is engine code.
Following applies to light trucks:
1st-country of assembly (1,4-USA, 2-Canada, 3-Mexico)
2nd-manufacturer (G-GM)
3rd-brand (C,N-Chevrolet, T-GMC)
4th-brake class
5th-drivetrain (2 or 4wd)
6th-payload (1,2,or 3-1/2,3/4,1ton)
7th-body style (4-reg cab, 9-ext cab, 3-crew cab, 6-suburban, I forget Tahoe and Avalanche now)
8th-engine
9th-check digit for vehicle tracking and fraudulent VINs
10th-model year
11th-build plant
12-17-sequence number

Engine code is the 8th digit in the VIN.
LB7 = 1
LLY = 2
LBZ = D
