: lowering my egt's
jugghack2 06-26-2006, 06:56 PM I'm hving trouble with egt's getting to high. Edge allwase kickes out on high egt under hard acceration takes about 4 sec on a 95 deg day
any other way to cool it down

akdiesel 06-26-2006, 11:56 PM Meth/water inj is used on diesels mainly to lower the EGT's. There are some slight hp gains. It can lower temps down to approx 150 deg f.
There are other concerns using this method though.
PHXDUCWI 06-27-2006, 07:06 PM With my mods would it be worthwhile to add a banks intercooler to lower egts?

:exactly:
03LB-7dmax 07-02-2006, 03:16 PM I run the bullydog, "Rapidpower" chip and it has the lowest egt's i have seen, I can pull my 10k 5th wheel climbing, 4th gear locked @ 1165-1200,max egts, and thats @ level-2. Now bullydog chips do not have timing rattle like the programmer, my chip has less rattle than th edge, but its realy bad w/triple dog. And i have not had 1 problem w/my bullydog.
Clark20ry 07-02-2006, 03:28 PM I have the predator and my egt's are ok on the 60 hp tune. even with the outside temp of 112 deg.
subman631 07-02-2006, 03:46 PM First of all I would like to know what you consider "high EGT's"? You have the ability to set the alarm on your edge with the attitude monitor to what ever you want. I have let my truck get as high as 2000 degrees for a very short burst without any problem. I have also ran it for several minutes at the 1300 degree range. I ran a hot edge stacked with a Xcelerator for a year and never had a problem, I towed my 11,000 lb trailer over some pretty steep passes on level 3 with egt's staying 1200 or below. I also ran water/meth and propane. I'd stay away from both of these. I blew head gaskets on my truck even with head studs.
DURYMCGEE 07-02-2006, 06:48 PM My EGTs with the edge were pretty low, in 4 they would get around 1400 under hard acceleration/ towing on hills
jugghack2 07-03-2006, 10:07 AM SUBMAN I was told not to pass 1400 deg or turbo would melt down.
just wondering what a good temp to alarm at?

The key is not the temp it is the duration. 1600 degrees for a few seconds is Ok but I wouldn't run it more than 20-30 seconds at that temp. Also where is your temp probe? You have to have it in the exhaust manifold prior to the turbo for best results. make sure you always cool the turbo down everytime you drive it. Some will say 350 but I try to cool mine to 300.
jugghack2 07-03-2006, 09:51 PM SUBMAN Prob is pre turbo and thanks for all the info.
Ill bump up the defuel to 1400 or 1500 and set alert to 1400 as warning
I also never shut down truck above 300.
Drive it like you stole it
