I need to replace one of my brake lines, can anyone explain the proper procedure? I think it is just a matter of removing the old one, putting new one on, and then opening the bleeder valve on the caliper while stepping on the brake pedal to bleed out the air. But i would like to make sure before doing this.

You answered your own Q. Sometomes they'll gravity bleed without having someone else pump the pedal

Yup, and also make sure you put some new crush washers in there just so you don't have to do it twice. Most new lines will come with the washers.
