The sensor is a circular float that rides on a shaft. As water accumulates in the bowl, the float rises. Once it reaches a certain level it activates the Water In Fuel (WIF) light.

So to answer your question, only if whole water accumulates in the bowl.

So if you are using a water demulsifier, Is WIF is useless? and taking a gamble with bad fuel. sorry for my ignorance.Edited by: ROCKYMTNDMAX

Warning Opinion Only: I think that if you were to get a bad tank of fuel, the additive would not be able to "hang" all that water in the fuel and it would collect in the water traps.... Not technical, but I hope it helps...

I believe that is correct. I think the emulsifier only handles minute quantities of water, to help keep it from settling and building up.
