I have been on 2nd generation for about a week or so but I am new to 3rd generation. I read the "Differences Between LLY & LBZ" & I have questions because I want to trade my 05 3500 up to a 06 Topkick 5500.
It looks like they are still using the LLY without changes on the 06 5500. I was with the impression that they upgraded all LLY's to the LBZ after 10/2005. Does anyone know if I need wait for the 2007's? Will they upgrade to the LBZ for 07?
I love my 3500 when it runs but I have had problems over & over with the LLY 05 3500. So I need to get out of this one & get something better but if the LLY in the 06 5500 is the same, I dont see a point in getting another headache. Can you re-read & give me some feedback on the concerns & misunderstandings that I have noted here.:help2:

i had the 05 lly and the 06 lly had my hand full with troblem ranging from injectors water leaks and trans problems on the 05 and the first 06 i had had trouble with the 6 speed auto not down shifting with a load up a incline auto or manual mode went to drive a ford what a laugh pos imho them drove a cummins dodge liked the cummins did not like the auto trans at all and above all it was still a dodge .so i bit the bullet and got the 06 with the lbz and i tell you it was the right choice by far no problem at all never been in the shop and had it since feburary .so if you want to stay with the 3500 i would suggest the 06 lbz oh the 4500 and the 5500 has the same moter as your 05 does the lly and is rated 300hp with a 5 speed auto i think you can get a 6 speed manual with that also hope this helps
An issue with the '07 models would be that they'll be limited to using only the new ULSD diesel fuel. The '06 and older models can use either the current LSD or the ULSD.
You may not want to have to be hunting for ULSD with an '07. Stations aren't required to carry it, only to label what they do have.

:exactly: Thats right! I forgot about that. I had been seeing that on deisel pumps but really wondered what people are going to do when they start buying all those new trucks. I guess the fuel industry will start getting that fuel out there but who knows ... I guess I need to start looking to see just how many stations are carring it or how fast the fuel industry starts getting it to the stations.
Does anyone have any input on that? May want to start an new thread on that to see just what the near future holds for people looking to trade for the '07 models.
Thanks for noting that!
