I helped my father in law install lift pumps on his truck today. Is it possible to place the new pick up too far down in the tank, causing a fuel starving issue?

I would have to say no but you could make it so it doesn,t go all the way down in the tank if I can recall right the hose should be 13'' long for the hose length..

if you are using a new pickup that sits in the OEM sender then no it isn't possible as it has a plasitc screen with feel that keep it a set distance over the bottom of the cup in the sender itself.
