2 weeks ago put in code elim and blocker plate, ran fine for about 2 weeks, then got the 0404 and 0401 codes. Took both things out and still have the same codes. Took it into the dealer today for reflash, still have codes, any ideas?

you have no cat, that's why you still get codes. That new update only works for the 05's I believe.

Sounds like the connections on the finger stick were bad or it's faulty.

put your cat back in and the codes will go away, or recheck all the connections on the fingerstick and try again.

My buddies 05 has cat.FS soldered.Second Fs soldered as well. Was good originally(no codes) for almost 2 months then BAM.Wont stop throwing even with new sticks.

you mean he has NO cat, right? Just like everything electronic things do go bad and if you have already ruled out human error then contact fingers and get a replacement. If installed correctly you shoudl not get those codes.

PPE unit a guy traded me for my cat. I'm thinking I might have to find another cat and take it to a guy I know that takes a 4" down pipe and just opens up the existing cat to fit in the bigger downpipe.

He has his cat on truck,Banks cat back exhaust.Everyting was fine for almost 2 months. His Attitude went goofy and now he has codes constantly.Attitude has ben replaced and new Fs soldered in.Still popping codes.Im going over there now to swap out his MAF with mine and see what that does before we pull everything and send it to stealer.

The MAF swap is a quick and easy but you should look into the EGR valve. I have at least two reports of them failing and giving 401 and 404's

Swapped out my MAF for his.No luck.SO we pulled his FS,block plate and checked .still getting codes. So the Edge/Attitude came out and off to dealer tomorrow for most likely a new EGR valve.Voltage reading at EGR Blue lead(stock setup) was at 1.07 volts regardless of RPM.Checked my EGR blue lead and got same voltage reading but my truck doesnt even have soft codes.

Mines coming home from the dealer today. They said it was wiring ( i highly doubt it), but I'll let you know how it goes.

The word Stick should not be in the subject line, but oh well...

Dealer called and told me that I melted the blue wire going into the EGR when I soldered it, and it melted inside the EGR, so whole EGR needs to be replaced plus 3 hours of labor, somthing like 620 bucks not covered under warrenty, oh well, lessoned learned, don't solder to close to the EGR.

Update to buddies truck.Turns out his EGR cooler tube(goldish-silver tube between block plate and EGR motor) is leaking coolant into itself(small crack) and has damaged EGR valve.tech at dealership said this is the 3rd one he has seen. His coolant wasnt low but there was a tiny bit of what looked like oil residue on the front side of block plate when we removed it,Probably coolant mist mixed with old soot covered tract.Apparently the crack/leak is real tiny but enough to do damage to EGR assembly and possibly worse to motor had it gotten worse. All will be covered under warranty ,his truck will be down for a few days awaiting parts.

That makes three EGR failures I am aware of now. I'm sure there are a pile out there I have not heard of...

The oil inside the cooling pipe is normal. Trace amounts come up the intake from the PCV and collect in the EGR cooling pipe when the EGR is blocked. The oil does no harm. When the oil and soot from the exhaust mix in the valve, THAT builds up and causes problems.

We had his PCV rerouted as well.Probably just residule then.I wasnt aware that the Cooler tube was jacketed and had coolant flowing around it until he called me to tell me what dealer showed him.So I pulled out my GM factory service manual and looked up the EGR coolant tube replacement procedures and sure enough it is.What a pain.Good thing it is covered under warranty.
