It should also be mentioned that Dmaxes with the allison tranny will recieve another torque enhancement, but it remains to be determined.

Bartman, the torque enhancement for the Allison is true, I myself was wondering if it was a rumor, so I search and got an E-mail address for Allison and asked them if it was true and he answered with the following.

The 1000 Series Allisons are getting upgraded to feature 360hp & 620lbs, but theses upgrades will not be seen until the 2006 models, production on the new Allison will begin in 2005 for the 2006 models.

Anyone know if the hood will retrofit the 04? Might be worth the $$ to get it.

I sure hope so. If it does I will get one, cheaper than a new truck.

I wonder why Allison is waiting until 2006 to do the upgrade. That little of one to. Dodge has 600ft lbs already and I'm sure by 06 that some more power wars will be upped. I guess I'll just by a used one and change the hood if it looks good which I'm sure it will. It would be good any way to upgrade the tranny if you going to put some power to it.

You're going to have to retrofit the grill too. The grill is taller on the '05s.

My fiance' is testing the new grill and hood (she's a test engineer at GM) and I've been prodding her with questions about it fitting on my '04.

Yes That is a true statement falls in line with the new life cycle that GM has for it's vehicle lines. Some new sheet metal or other small changes every year, with a major change every 3ed year or 4th year. I know the GM trucks are going through a big change for the 2006 model year.

As Dmax HP increases and the RPM redline climbs, it would be a natural to also drop the displacement. Probably add some fuel economy too. Edited by: Ray403Dmax

I was going to purchase a 2004 model but it looks like waiting for the 2006 is not really out of the question.. I have no towing needs as of now. and am just looking for my first truck..

I'm a little confused. Are you talking about the new Allison Vocational transmissions? If so according to this (http://www.allisontransmission.com/upandcoming/index.jsp) page on Allison's website the new trannies will be installed starting with the 05 models...unless I'm reading incorrectly.?Edited by: y2kboti
