I got under my truck last night to adjust the torsion bars and I noticed that there is a great deal of oil all over under the truck. I hadn't noticed any drops in my driveway or anything but there is definitely a serious leak now. My oil pressure seems to be fine and the level didn't seem abnormally low. I'm just curious if anyone has experienced such problems or if there is a common leak somewhere.

Sure it's oil? Who does the oil changes? Any fluids actually low? Pics?

Check your transfer case right away. It's a common leak problem.

I'm sure it's oil and the dealer does the changes. I'll check the transfer case but it looks like it's coming from higher in the engine compartment. What about the rear main seal?

I just had my tranny serviced (fluid and filters) at an Allison maintenance shop and the next day I noticed a puddle under my truck. Naturally I suspected something was loose on the transmission. Upon further inspection, I determined it was oil and not tranny fluid.

I drove my truck a couple thousand more miles and decided to take it to Eric Merchant and he power washed the underside of my truck (oil was everywhere!). After a thorough inspection, it was determined to be a rear main seal which Eric said was pretty rare. I have 423,700 miles on this baby, so anything is possible at this point.

Some time ago (many, many miles ago) I also had a turbo oil line that was leaking and only needed to be tightened. Maybe one of these is your problem.

Thanks to Eric (DMAXALLITECH) for squeezing me into his schedule this week to help me out.

Good luck!

Common place for transfer case to develop a leak. Wears through from the inside . The transfer case uses automatic transmission fluid. So if you are leaking ATF and the transmission isn't losing any fluid then the T-case is about the only other place for it to come from.

I have the same truck and had a leak in the valve covers that was covered by the 100K duramax warr. It covered everything also... and only produced a drop in the driveway once in a while.
