On my new truck I chose not to get the steering wheel controls, due to the fact that I plan on an entire aftermarket stereo system. Since I did not get the steering wheel controls does this now mean I dont have access to all the DIC features like mileage, oil life and such ? All I have is the little reset button on the dash and the only features that has is odometer, trip and hourmeter.

You should have oil life, low oil warning, low oil pressur, and all the other goodies that the dic is capable of. Unless something has changed the steering wheel controles are only for the radio. Your owners manual will tell you all the things the dic will monitor.

The buttons would be on the steering wheel. You won't have access to the functions but it will display warning messages when they are due.

That stinks, the dealer didnt mention that when we were discussing what I wanted.

buttons are not just for the radio, there are also mileage options ( till empty, avg, gallons used, pers and bus trip, LT trim memory options, etc) also, there are aftermarket adapters that would have let you use the controls with your aftermarket radio. bummer for you......

Do I have the wiring necessary for it ? If I were to find a steering wheel with the controls, would I be able to put it on and have all the functions work ? Im wondering if its a matter of plugging in some wiring harnesses or is it not possible at all ?

Where can I find the aftermarket adapter to allow my steering wheel to controll an aftermarket stereo. I've keep all my factory stereo stuff because of that.

I have question regarding mine... I have the steering wheel buttons, and have almost everything available... The only thing that doesn't appear in the DIC is the curb view assist. Anyone know why everything but that is there?

I'm not certain but I think the curb view assist is not applicable if you have power extending mirrors.

allstok03Dmax, just a quick search on google gave the web sites listed below. Most seem to work by sending a remote control signal to the head unit.

I think that I also got all of the options there are and I don't have curb view assist though it is addressed in my owner's manual. I suspect that the same manual is used for the Escalade and that's where you will find the feature.

I have the "base" model and was wondering if my truck has the necessary components to see avg mph, avg gal used, etc on the DIC? Is there an aftermarket or oem product that would make those features functionable? I have an aftermarket stereo with no steering wheels controls.
