: IP swap progressing but...

Just wanted to pass along a progress report on the IP swap. After beating my head due to a leaking rocker cover gasket that I got to replace three times and getting really good at taking off the intake manifold I finally got the IP done, well almost...

Got the IP on and no oil leaks on the top of the engine but I am having fits with the timing of the pump.

I got the Tech1 on the job and it still says I have a current DTC88. I do the output test/tdc timing and find that the IP has a measured timing of 7.2 to 8.3 with fluctuations and the TDC offset is 0.00, all of which I thought were about right. Well then I do the output test/TDC learn and when I hit the up arrow to trun on the output control the measured timing stays the same but the TDC offset after about 5 seconds goes to -2.02??? If I then do anymore testing the IP stays reporting -2.02 TDC offset. I can shutdown the engine restart the Tech1 and the cycle repeats itself...measured timing 7.2 to 8.3 TDC offset 0.00 until I try the TDC Learn then back to TDC -2.02...I have moved the IP to the passsenger side in sveral small increments and thought that I had it right.....But no......the project that never ends, aaaaargh!!!!

Well let me reply to myself....

Holy cow!!! The IP swap is finally done!!! I could not have done it without the help of everyone here!!! I want to especially thank gmctd in public for all the hand holding along the way!!!

It seems like all I have is questions and begs for help when I am on this site. You guys always some through.

To answer myself I had to keep on putting the armstrong method to the IP to get it to go further to the passenger side. Now it is at no greater than -1.50 TDC...wheeeew!!!

Thanks again

Mike
