Friends,

I'd like to start investing in some cheap, preventive maintenance by using a fuel additive regularly.

I've got nearly 10,000 miles on my Dmax. I've never run anything through it but regular pump diesel.

Two questions:

1) Should I buy one product for the initial cleaning, lubrication, etc. of my fuel system and then switch to another (less powerful) treatment for regular use (every tank), or can I just buy one of the many "regular use" additives and start from here.

2) I've looked at FPPF, Schaeffers, Stanadyne...there are so many. I live in northern california. I seldom drive my vehicle where there's snow. It seems many of the products have an anti-gel additive, which doesn't seem to be mandatory for my use. I realize this is a subjective, one, but what do you recommend for my application?

Thanks,

Terel

There are tons of posts here on this very subject. Do a search read all of the opinions and then make a choice based on your judgement.

You will not get a difinitive answer on this subject there are LOTS of opinions about addatives on this site. This good since most of the opinions come from people with a great deal of experience using different products. Use your search to determine what to steer away from, then choose from the remaining candidates.

FYI - GM prefers Stanadyne.

GM recommends Stanadyne and Racor.

I'm using Stanadyne in my pickup and am trying Racor in my van. They're both good IMHO.
