For the past 40,000 miles I have gone down the 285/75/16 route with my Revos. Here's my report-
1. 285's make the power steering pump work overtime.
2. 285's cause your truck to pull to the drain side of the highway causing my front left to wear quicker.
3. Tread held up great but I did notice more pulling on sloped highways as more miles were racked.
So..tired of rotating due to the tread roar from uneven wear I decided to come back from the world of 285. I found the Bridgestone revos in 265 75 16 LOAD RANGE E! They ride great, don't pull at all, get better fuel economy and dont scrub. I yet to find another 265 Load range E.
One more thing..If your thinking about 285's you need to purchase a 285 spare or you'll be sorry.
Hope this helps you new LLYers wanting to get rid of the pizza cutters.

Were you trying to run the tires on the stock rims? That could explain some of the problems. Better pick up a 265 spare as well!

If my memory serves me correct Nitto makes a load range E tire and sometimes it can be the brand of tire you are running. I know that I had BFG's on my previous truck and they were great on stock rims, no rubbing, no wear to speak of, but they only had about 12K miles on them too, but tire brand and pressure and driving habits can all influence how they wear. Just my two cents.

I've had the 265 revos at 35 psi all the way around on my truck for over 20000 miles now. Makes the ride better and the tread wear less. I do though bump them up when pulling, hauling, or plowing.

1. 285's make the power steering pump work overtime.
In theory, that makes sense. But how where you able to gauge this?

35 PSI must be for a Load D tire ? It sounds a little low for a Load E tire. To much side wall flex.Edited by: Bronco

There are lots of 265/75/16 in E rating. Cooper, Pirelli, Toyo all make them and I'm sure there are many more. Edited by: Kartattack
Here up north we swear by Nokian tires and they have both winter and all season tires in 265 75 16 load range E.
The all-season, which would probably be suitable for Georgia, is called the "Vatiiva".
