I was conditioning my leather seats yesterday and I found a 1 1/2 inch slit on the back of one of the back seats. It is so fine that at first I thought it was just a scratch but when I looked close it was all the way through. It Doesn't appear to have any signs of puncture or tear. Could this be a defect? :(

My cc got a cut from inside the seat off of the aluminum frame was sharp and with the seat folded down and a case of oil on it it cut trough the padding and leather in 35 miles. replaced under warranty. at first they didnt sand the sharp edge off when i went to pick up the seat so i made them take the leather back off and sand it and then put some tape over the edge for extra insurance

Generally speaking, this is a judgement call by the dealer. If you had noticed it when the truck was new, they probably wouldn't argue, but after this length of time, unless you can prove it was cut from the inside like Dmax4fun, you are probably screwed. In the dealer's defense, he has now way of knowing if it was a defect or got cut by something.
However, if it's as fine as you say, you might be able to patch it from under the material to stop it from getting worse, and it probably won't be noticable unless you know its there.

I wouldn't have noticed it now if I hadn't been applying the conditioner and I have to look hard to find it now even though I know it's there.

Then I would patch it from behind to keep it from getting worse. An upholstery shop - even a furniture repair shop can probably suggest what would work best as far as material and glue/bonding agent to use.
I know how you feel though - it's like finding your first rock chip. Others may not notice it, but you know it's there.
This is the kind of update I like giving. Just got back from the dealership and they are replacing the back of the back seat under warranty. :)
