My MAX has developed a strange noise the instant it starts the first time each morning. The best description I can give is that it sounds like a "grunt". It only does this the first start of the day. All others are normal. There is no prolonged cranking or any other issue. The truck starts fine. Anyone else hear this noise?--------Thanks--------Phil

Mine does that all the time, sounds like it is barking when it starts. Have been told that is normal. I would say that will depend on temps too.

Mine snorts every start, gotta love that open exhaust.

Thanks for all the input! Yes I always wait for the glow plug light to go out and no, I'm not talking about the normal diesel "rattle". This sound is like a "grunt". It only does it on the first start of the day. Oh well-----------I'll just keep a close eye on it. ----Later---Phil

Kinda like it explodes into life, like what a dragster sounds like when you start them..instantaneous burst of noise then settles.
