Was a "stroke" fan for years. Last 7.3 (non turbo) sold with 200,000 miles and still was getting 17 to 19 MPG fwy miles. Bigger boat purchase was the end of the 5.3 Chev.... not enough there and the blower option was too much $$$. Went looking for a used 7.3 "stroke" but soon tired of test driving worked over trash. On the way home I thought I would amuse myself and stop in to test drive the new Allison 6spd/6.6 combo. 2 hours later I was driving home in a 2500HD. LOVE IT. My "stroke" friends still are not talking to me but they always seem to know when I have replenished the beer supply. They'll come around. Looking forward to tapping into the knowledge of all this site has to offer.

7.3 was a good motor from what I read and was one of the trucks I was look for before I said what the heck and stayed with the GMC.
Not to bust on your friend or anything like that. But I quite drinking 14 years ago and found out who my real friends were and saved a lot of money.
