Hey, I'm planning on putting exhaust in my truck and I want to know what the deal is with engine lights and that stuff. I wouldn't mind having a straight pipe with no cats but if its going to bugger up the computer that wont be good. Anybody have a situation like this?

Also, whats the deal with having a command start and a programmer. Would they interfere with each other? Its got a GM installed command start and I got an Edge Juice with Attitude I'm going to install.

I plan on doing the same system on my truck (lly) also.Didnt realize it eliminated the cat. Concerned about the check engine light. Any thoughts!!!!

What years, make and models? Whats the location? Cali trucks dont like to lose the cat and I think most have check engine lights from removing it.

2006 crew cab dually (LLY) Washington state. 10,000 miles and I don't want to deal with codes!!!! Still have a chance to exchange for a cat back but like the idea of losing the cat;I don't feel its necesssary.

Just remember, removing the cat is illegal. You may have problems passing inspection when its time if your state does that kind of thing.

We have no state inspections. It would be A local dealer thing as far as warranty goes. I do realize that removing the cat is still illegal though!!

I wasnt trying to get you discouraged at all. Hell, I took mine off...I was just saying that some trucks have problems with the CEL and others dont. I'd go ahead and do it. You shouldnt be dispointed.

If your truck has Federal Emmissions build code most will not turn on the light but will set a code. If your truck has the clean state emmissions (CA and 12 others) you will set a code and turn the light on if you delete the cat.

Thanks for all the info. I've decided to exchange the full system for the cat back. I can always change down the road after warranty is up.

Its an 04.5 LLY, Alberta Canada and got 16000 miles. CEL's are pretty bad looking and I dont want to roll around with that on, but I've enver owned a chevy that it didnt come on in so I guess its not a big deal. Theres no other issues with yankin out a cat other than the light coming on is there. It will still run like it should?

And no word on the command start and programmer together?

Installed my AFE cat back exaust Fri. Has a slightly deeper tone at idle but I have'nt had a chance to drive it . We'll see how it sounds after I put the 11.5 camper on and the boat behind. Hopefully It does'nt drone in the cab but I suspect it wont.

Even though it does not turn on the light, but does set a code, does it derate the engine.
