Hey, all -

A/C was blowing warm, turns out the compressor clutch isn't engaging. No problem, searched this site, jumped it with a paperclip. It worked for a few minutes and then quit.

Shop notes:
1. I am able to turn the compressor by hand without the belt on it.
2. The voltage on my meter from the compressor back to the low pressure switch cutoff is .23v.
3. The pressure switch / paperclip issue does not work anymore.
4. All the fuses are good. There is continuity between posts 85 and 86 on the AC relay, as there should be.
5. Voltage to compressor is .24v.

Related / unrelated:
1. the recirculation button on the dash doesn't light up and recirculation does not occur anymore.

The next thing would be to replace the low pressure cutoff switch just because I can't think of anything else.

I'm open to anything. Funds are tight right now and if I can hammer this out, I'd sure like to.

Anyone have any ideas?

You likely have a low freon condition. You could top it up with a Walmart kit. They are pretty cheap. Make sure if you do use the 134A freon with no sealer or die in it. It really is not worth the hassle of dumping the extra crap into the system. Also, your jumping the low pressure switch seems to have cut your voltage to the clutch. You need to check where your voltage has gone. It should only be a few tenths of a volt less than your alternator output when running or a few tenths of a volt less than the batterys when it is not. You may have smoked the relay and the odd time a fuse will do wierd things. Swap it with another of the same amperage rating. Find the voltage problem first then go back to the freon.

An oily spot on any of the connections, hoses, seals or condensor is a likey source of your freon leak. Oil is mixed with the freon when it is installed for lubrication of the pump. Where there is oil on the freon circuit there is a freon leak.

When the A/C control head sees a problem it can internally disable A/C. Try unhooking the battery for a couple minutes then try to restart compressor. The low side switch shuts off power to compressor between approx 24-30 psi depending on switch then restarts when low side recovers back to approx 36-44 psi. try unhooking battery first then if still persists repost.Note if compressor cycles at proper pressure but often probaably low on charge.

Sometimes the control head is actually the problem if after batt disconnect it still won't kick in. If you get this far let me know & will look in wiring diagram for details before you buy control head.
