Polarbear 05-06-2004, 08:01 PM I noticed a few times today then when i turned the wheel it felt kinda like something was rubbing or something. Seemed to do it turnin left 3 or 4xs, but did do goin right once or twice....It doesnt seem like it anything down in the tire area,,, more like it the steering wheel itself....when i first noticed it kinda bummed meout.... not a week after i get it, and this.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

chipper 05-07-2004, 01:00 AM Mine did that when the plastic trim cover over the back of the steering wheel-ignition lock got a little warped. dealer installed a new one, problem over.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
Polarbear 05-07-2004, 07:39 AM Hey, thanks ill take a look when i go out and see if i see it. Did yours do it all the time ??? I wonder what causes them to warp??? Is it pretty easy to see?
chipper 05-07-2004, 11:10 AM no, it was intermittent, you could feel the vibration when you heard the noise if you put your finger on it.
Polarbear 05-07-2004, 12:41 PM When you had this did you notice any vibration just drivin down the rd straight?. I noticed this morning a ever superslight vibration in the 9/3 position on the wheel at 50-60.at the top of the wheel i cant feel it... I didnt notice this right when i first got it, but maybe thats just because i was too much in love w/the truck.
edit---just got a call from dealer, a new power mirror is in, and told thembout the cover, and they are goin to check it out next thrus...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
Polarbear 05-10-2004, 08:18 PM has been doin it more steadily the last few days....will definitly be making a pt to have it looked over on thrus when it goes in for unrelated service... Chipper, did you ever have problems w/the airbag or sensor when it was doing this??? just curious...Thanks-Adam
Two Dogs 05-10-2004, 10:43 PM PolarBear,
I had the same or similiar problem to what you describe.
I took it to Dealer & they greased the intermediate steering shaft. They said it was pretty common as GM tends to be a little skimpy on the grease. Mine had 1600 miles @ the time a couple weeks ago. They solved my problem with that.
Hope this helps, Two Dogshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
chipper 05-11-2004, 04:51 PM Adam,
The trim shield is completely seperate from the airbag, so the answer is no.
They did have to remove the airbag & steering wheel to replace it.
Polarbear 05-12-2004, 09:27 PM Was just reading throught the manual, and found a work order from the previous owner. Seems he had the same problem"squeak in steering wheel" they ordered a new coil for steering wheel.. im going to point out the TSB for greasing the bearing...
Polarbear 05-17-2004, 12:49 PM dealer performed tsb.....all seemed well til last night...very slight sound turning left in my driveway....guess we will see, maybe it was just a fluke...
Polarbear 05-24-2004, 06:44 PM No fluke, doing it a at least a few times a day...tho its not as loud as before....Guess im going to have to deal w/it, as i cant have it sitting at the dealer again, if all im going to get is 1/2 assed....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
