:wtf1: I'm trying to get a CB antenna wire through the big rubber boot the main harness is in. Other than cutting a slit in the boot I don't see an easy way of doing it. I tried to get it through with the other wires but that's as easy as putting a condom on without thumbs. Give me some pointers guys.

I sometimes put a slit in the rubber on the outside then push a coat hanger through from the outside. It's not easy but I've got it down to a science.

There is also a smaller boot that you can see if you remove that breakout box down where the clutch should be. you can move it out of the way and you will see a smaller grommet with the throttle wires going through it IIRC. it's easy to work with.

Thanx. I'll try the coat hanger. Seeins I do have a clutch!!!!!

above and to the right of the accelerator pedal (from the inside) is an opening in the plastic exposing the metal firewall. i drilled a small hole, maybe a little larger than 1/4", put a rubber grommet in the hole (radio shack), and ran the antenna wire through there.

Unwrap the tape on the outside of the boot then push a coathanger thorough, I've done it a couple times without problems.

theres a panel on the gas trucks that pops out around the gas pedal you can also go around the steering shaft but you can possibly get it pinched if not careful

Just did this yesterday . Drilling through the area above and to the right of the gas petal was by far the easiest IMO !! I looked and ran a wire through the big grommet and decided that the other way would end up being easier............had it drilled , grommet installed, and wires ran in about 5 minutes !!

I did have a right angle drill and a special bit.......and my father in law giving me advice that made it easier though .

I ran my wire with the parking brake cable throught the driver side rubber seal in the floor. I also have the ANT mounted on the bed rail.

Coat hangers work great!

Let us know how it all works out.

ps. Nice avtar!!!!

I have done this method to three of my trucks..no problems...did it just as cbm describes above... Good Luck.

Why aren't you guy's using the factory gromet and boot just above the panel in the left side of the footwell? It has a small bunch of wires going through from the factory and ther is plenty of room for more. All you have to do is from the inside, pull the boot just out of the firewall and then there is a removeable "doughnut" on the passenger compartment side that you remove and it allows you to very easily put more wires through. If you need me to get some pictures of what I'm talking about, I can later on tonight.

Also may try chasing it down through the "A" pillar. Theres a grommet that is about 3-4" to the rear of the "A"pillar there. Just remove the outboard kickpanel, and move the wire connections out of the way. Then carefully slide the plastic seal out of the way. You will see an opening, on the bottom side of this there will be some sound deadening material. I just poked a hole through it with a screw driver.

It takes a stiff wire to guide it over there, but I used an old recoil spriing out of a weedeater. Worked beautifully for what I was doing. This may mean you will need more antenna cable wire

Yesterday I ran my pyro wires and boost pressure tube through the throttle wiring grommet mentioned above. On the engine side the throttle harness goes a short distance to a connector. This allows you to pull the entire harness and grommet inside the truck where you can  almost work on it with ease. A couple of tips...The throttle harness routes between the firewall and a vertical mechanical cable of some kind. I had pulled the harness out past this to work on it and forgot to re-route it correctly the first time I tried to re-assemble things. The second tip is that after you get your new items pushed through the grommet and get the grommet taped up install the rubber do-nut in the grommet before you put it back into the fire wall hole. The do-nut's function seems to be to make the grommet snug...with out it the grommet will come back out fairly easily. Tug on the grommet from the engine side to get it re-seated in the hole. Worked great for me. :) I would say those to things are about the max I would try to add to that grommet though.
