I finally made my big decision about which diesel truck I wanted. I had a hard time deciding between the Duramax and the Dodge/Cummins, but I basically found the one I wanted and got the the deal I wanted on it.
The long term injector problems are pretty much my only fear of the Duramax, soI guess the first thing I want to do is get a post OEM fuel filter. What's the best and/or most economical way to go? Where do you get it?Edited by: Brake_Torq

Nothing wrong with post OEM filters but I don't understand why a post OEM filter is prefered by some over the pre OEM arrangement. I'm running a pre OEM sold by NICK and like the fact it has a big capacity and should take a load off the OEM. Only have about 4K on my unit since installing the big pre OEM filter but am anxious to see how well it works.

I went with a pre OEM from Racor from lubespecialist at a reasonable cost with the heater and wif sensor. Plus, it may even be endorsed by GM? Do a search here and you will find tons of information and lots to think about!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

I am using the Cat pre OEM filter from Nick as well. If you're from the deep south you shouldn't be bothered by the lack of a heater in the Nicktane kit. Had my truck for 2 years now with not a single problem, good luck with your new unit.

There is some concern about warranty coverage and post-OEM filters. But I suppose any post OEM design would have options for a pre-OEM installation too.
