meh...its alright. I have to say it IS better than I thought it would be from what we've seen in camo...I dont like how the side looks like a Colorado. Otherwise its alright, I think it would look better with that black lower bumper cover painted the body color, and I think it'd look better with a bug deflector to smooth out the flat square frontal area....I think the RED color makes it look a little stupid too...

then again I hated the GMT-800's when they first came out too, and I hated the first pictures I saw of the new Tahoes...but I love both of them now :confuzeld:

I bet the new Silverado will grow on us...

Looks like crap.

Way too many bulges on the front and rear fenders.

The door frame around the upper part of the window is too fat.

The painted ends of the front bumper look like a add on after thought.

Looks like a 2" tailpipe.

Looks like the hood is open.

Well atleast the rims and tailgate look alright.

.

On edit: Paulie K's version of the front bumper look's much better.

#1. All the more reason to stay with a GMC....:D
#2. The tailpipe DOES look like its 2" big, if that. Not impressed.
#3. Red just dosent do it for these new GM trucks. But thats just my opinion.
#4. Why have running boards at all? It dosent seem to sit more than 2" off the ground anyways.

Why is it, that GM 4 wheel drive trucks are sitting lower and lower every year they redisign? -:t

They're forcing us to stay with a 3/4 and 1 ton just for ground clearance.

The pre 99's sat much higher, or at least it seemed it to me, than the 99's and newer half tons.

Bottom line: I hope the GMC version dosent look like a friggen Canyon.-:t

GM should fire their design team immediately. That's just sad. I know I said it would look like the Tahoe front end, but what's up with the chrome/black bumper and grill? Looks like it should have a wide racing stripe down the hood...not to mention the silly luggage bars! Looks like a cross between a sportside and a fleetside, too...guess someone couldn't make up their mind.

BTW, I just noticed...they must be dealing with the overheat problem by running the trucks with the hoods cracked open (on the safety latch) now......

Pure Diesel

Hey unit 453, what if the running boards were a little bigger and combine that with the stupid roof rack bars you could have a SWAT unit. Its a truck. What is with the roof bars? That red thing looks too much like a Jap truck from the side. Doesn't even really look fullsize. But if it's actually the new 1500, then GM might be doing what Ford does.....have a light-duty body style and another for the HD 2500-3500 trucks. I was told the new Chev. HD trucks will have essentially the same front as the new Tahoe, which is bigger and supposedly more powerful looking. Makes sense, because the new 1500's are out in September but the new model 2500-3500 won't be available until March of next year. But this is all just speculation. Even so, the new '07 diesels will be loaded down with emissions crap.

I wonder how many gazillion dollars it will cost to replace that kludged-up front end with the front clip off a Tahoe (preferably the more aerodynamic Tahoe hybrid)?

What happened to making the GMT900s more aerodynamic? It looks like they used up all the available wind tunnel time on the SUVs. I guess they saw how awful the new style F-250SD looks and figured they only had a new (lower) bar to meet.

I usually refrain from this, but in this case I'll make an exception:

Even so, the new '07 diesels will be loaded down with emissions crap.

emmissions diesels will not come out until the new (new?) body body style. Early 2007 Silverado Classics will still have the LBZ in current form. This is to give gas stations a chance to swithc over to ULSD. They ahve to makesure ULSD is everywhere BEFORE they release a emmissions junk engine because the emmissions junk engines will NOT be able to run on standard diesel.

The pics of the red truck immediately brought "Nissan Titan" to my mind. Not really my taste (exaggerated fenders flairs).

Odd to note, though, that there's this "titan" version and the Avalanche version. Where the Avalanche looks like a converted Tahoe; these latest picts look altogether different. Maybe the fender flairs are part of the Z71 package?

Wednesday different shocks. Thursday put bigger tires than the pizza cutters. Friday have a Dodge 2500 stock and a F@rd F250 all stock park next you at the mall and make your truck still look like it's a dwarf, despite your on goin efforts to make your 4x4 sit like one......

I don't like the look of the bed/back window. It look like the bed sides are low or the back window is HUGE. I myself do not like big back windows at all, they let too much light in. The bulges in the finders just make it look like a nissian to me. Well I may be done again with these trucks for a years. Hopefully my 06 will hold its resale good, that I was I hope for. With the 07 emissons and the new style.

elvis_knows

I've carefully looked at all the spy photos I have of the GMC 1500, GMC 2500, and Chevy 3500, and they all appear to have the same fender bulges under the camo. Maybe the GMCs have less pronounced bulges, but more likely they are the same as the Chevy. Look at the spy photos (below) of a GMC 2500HD seen from the rear, looking at a shallow angle, at the left side front fender. Notice how the camo cover at the top rear of the fender doesn't conform to the fender... evidently because the bulge underneath is too pronounced. It looks the same as spy photos of the Chevy 1500s taken from the same angle. The odd thing is that the bulge on the rear seems barely visible under the camo.

Also, Car & Driver has short article about the new uncovered photos, and the mention that the sheet metal for Chevy & GMC will be the same (no surprise there).

The important thing now is to find out what the correct order cut-off date is for all three body styles of the 2007 "Classic" HDs.

The HDs will be different. You'll just have to guess at how much!

Even as a major GM enthusiast, it takes me seeing them on the road and in person to do it justice and start to really like a new product. These photos (while accurate spy photos) just don't do it justice. I agree that you all will be driving them in a couple years time and won't give it a second thought.

I know. They're not bad. In fact, I have commented to several people how zippy our fleet Tahoes are. DuratotheMax even thought so. They really feel strong in the upper range.

Anyways, I'd still like to see a GMC version of that. Then I'd really be interested.

I dont care what anyone says. I'm still partial to GMC's.

Well Gentelmen, I just happened to meet one of the "designers" of the 900 series this evening. I made mention of the discussion we are having here, and he was superised to say the least. He assured me the interior was a total redesign and the 2500 and the 3500 would more "manly" (his words not mine). I do have to admit I'm always on the fence about the new models and they always seem to grow on me.

This may be slightly off topic, but I having been testing in the Death Valley area this past week (near Stovepipe Wells and Daylight pass, west of Beatty, NV). There were at least 3 cloaked (GM) 3/4 and 1 ton trucks running up and down these grades. In addition, I was down near Davis Dam today and saw the same group of trucks. This group of trucks is currently staying at the Las Vegas Hilton, parked in the lot in front of the Hilton Resort. The cloaked trucks are all tarped for the night and there is a support truck with a fuel tank in the bed that reads "Ultra Low Diesel Fuel Only"...

I will say at least GM made the Camaro likable from the start. I'm seriously thinking of one of them before I trade out of my Truck anyway! Hmmm maybe the 2014 body style will get it right! It may be a retro 1985 body style!

What GM needs to do is take the front end of the new tahoe, put it on the truck, change the interior features/configuration some, and come out with a new set of good looking stock wheels. That would be a good looking truck IMO. I think the new tahoes look pretty sweet

yeah, actually I think they will be closer to the red one. The pic you posted is the tahoe front end. Of course the HD will be closer to the 1500 than the tahoe. The bed will be different, the red one has a shorter bed like the crew cab 1500s do today. We will see, but I still say most everyone complaining will be driving one in 5 years.

No, I think Toyota will have a diesel by the and I'll be driving one of those.

Let's see, I will drive a Vette, a GM van, truck or Suburban, (but not an Avalanche) or maybe one of the Caddys when I'm a little older. That is about it, their designers suck. They are getting farther & farther away from trucks and closer & closer to big cars with open trunks. Soccer moms rejoice, it is going to have back up sensors! Give me an F-ing break it is a truck.

So why you driveing a GM product. It has tons of Jap parts! You can not purchase any vehicale today new with out Jap parts. Even the Harley uses a starter made by a Jap company since 1990. May of your parts labled AC Delco are made by Jap companies.

Who do you think helped GM in the design and manufacture of the Duramax? Isuzu a Jap company, in fact the plant Duramax LTD is a Joint venture.

There are some Toyotas and Hondas that are only made here in the USA and exported to Japan.

Hey people, the pictured truck is a ½ ton. Only ½ tons are Z71.
The 2500 HD, and the 3500 new models don’t launch until 2 Qtr. of 2007.
I just ordered a 2007 3500, and the dealer said the same thing. My truck will look like the 2006.
My employer supplies GM the drive train for their trucks, and my plant is supplier for the rear axles on the 2500 HD and 3500 SWR, and DWR. So there is still time to get the old body style in a 2007.

Every comment here is the same as was said about the 03 when it was first exposed. How things never seem to change when a change is coming.

I want to know about the stuff that is important, like engine and drive line. Looks are in the eyes of the beholder. How does it perform and how much power and torque. Beauty is for those that never work a truck. Those of us that do real work put a lot less emphasis on the body style.

If anyone's paid a visit to their local Chevy dealer like I have, as I'm tryin to replace my 02 Chevy CC/SB 2500HD 6.0, you may have seen the brochures for the 2007, and guess what, it's the same as the 2006. I for one do understand how the system works, GM lets these photo ops out there for the public to bite onto so they can get the feedback before the design is set in stone. Now if they did not want them seen lets face it they could have done a better job of hiding them. So that way if the talk is all negetive they can make some changes before they hit the factory production line. Now with that out in the open, I will express my opinion loudly so they can hear it. I will not just sit back and like what they think I should like. In my opinion the truck shown is not heavy enough to handle my needs. It does not belong in the Silverado class, as it is smaller then our Silverados that we now have and I feel that there is already a line of small trucks for people that do not handle heavy loads. Just look at what they are telling us about the ford 150, they say it will haul just about the same weight as our 3500's. But I would not trade my dually in for one. So keep the information flowing and if this new silverado is not better then what we have now they will hear about it.
Oh sorry I got off subject here, as this is the LBZ forum. So with that said I hope we can keep the 360 HP that we now have, and they do not try to bring back that outstanding 5.7 diesel once more.

I know that GM will never make a truck that would be total eye candy to me, but i dont feel that they have ever made anything that was butt ugly. It would be nice if in the future the trucks had a bigger cab and more pay load capacity, atleast enough to make Ford and Dodge think twice, but you'll never satisfiy everybody at the same time with the same thing.:ro)
