I am new guy on the block but I have read some posts about installing Overhead Console and I just did one in my 2005 Silverado Extended Cab. I hope I have included some pictures if I did it right.
I began by removing the windshield pillar post trim, visors, and hooks. and looked through windshield to verify that there were no surprises before I cut the head liner. I had small console and long one so I knew if small one would work then I could cut headliner for it and then verify through that hole that the long one would. I did. I had the two square holes toward the rear that the tabs on the console fit in (no picture of these). The front mounts with a screw into some kind of fastner that I did not have. I drilled two small holes for self tapping screw (pictured) I drilled two so that if I need to shift forward or back I could. I ran a wire to pillar post and picked up a hot (orange) and a ground (black) and spliced to them with a fuse and ran above the headliner to opening and spliced to the wiring harness to console (pictured). Hope all this shows well in the pictures, it is a neat installation and now I am looking for Homelink rolling code. Anyone know what years will work. I will install in Garage Door Opener spot. Thanks David
