Hi, Im a new guy to the forum. I got a 2002 2500hd and I was wondering if you can use a remote start with a diesel. I was thinking of buying a ungo sr5000. If this has been covered already forgive me. i did a search and nothing came up so i figured this is a new topic.thanks

You sure can. Just make sure the remote start is capable of working on a diesel. It has a to have an input for the glow plugs so that it waits for the glow plugs to shut off before starting.

Not usually. Most remote starts have the capability.

How hard would it be to install myself. Im not a electrician but I Ive installed radios and speakers. The alarm dealer wants 450 for the alarm plus install. I found the same alarm for 170 on ebay.

Not easy.

You need the system and also a passlock security bypass. Your looking at hooking up about 50 wires in total.


Radios and speakers are much much easier to install.
