Just got done getting the exhaust installed on my truck. It was ordered for a 2001-2002 Duramax, I have a 2004.5. Since I went with the old LB7 exhaust and I was able to remove the catalytic converter, WITH NO ADVERSE EFFECTS!! It was a perfect drop in install, no fabrication. The truck feels like a different truck. Turbo spools almost instantly, way more power, and it sounds a hell of a lot better. I will get it dynoed this week!!

Now it is time to cut the muffler out. Then you see more of a difference. Good luck .

What are the legalities with removing the cat? My '04.5 LLY has only 900 miles, but will be probably get a new exhaust this summer. The stock pipe doesn't look bad, except for size. But that curved piece right before the cat is a terrible looking scrunched-up thing. Does anyone make a replacement turbo-to-cat pipe, or is it necessary to remove the cat completely to get a really good system. So again, what are the legalities? In my county there's a fairly complete safety inspection for yearly renewal. But there's no emissions test and probably won't be for quite a few years, if ever.

5" tail on LLY with Primary Air suspension where the OE 3.5 wouldn't fit:

that looks very nice,

Is the angle on that 5inch different from your other 5inch exhaust?

No, but it is fudged inward a bit to clear the bag, which gives it s couple degrees more tip back. Not a lot, but enough to put it againsyt the spare just barely. We shifted the spare over, but it kept coming back, so we welded a heat shield on it and the owner plans to make some guide pins to hold it away. The spare was already lowered to make room for the air tank, so adding a pin to the spacer is simple...
