I damaged the passenger electric mirror on my 99K2500 Suburban with the towing package. Is the mirror available separately or do I need to purchase the entire housing, including motor? It looks like the mirror section just snaps on to the motor. Also, the parts guy is requesting a VIN number. Shouldn't he be able to match the part if I walk it in there?

Thanks.

If this isn't the proper forum, please let me know and I'll move the topic.

I think the glass comes out of those ones. The parts guy needs the vin because thats how the system is set up to find the correct part. Some parts have part numbers on them but most don't.

Some Auto Glass shops have the replacement Mirror Glass. I found one for my 99 Tahoe, they glued it in for me.

Well, I stopped by the dealership today to price a mirror. I supplied them with the last 8 digits of my VIN and they returned a part number of 12477842 for a mirror kit, which includes the motor. Appartently the glass mirror that snaps on to the motor assemby is not available separately. They wanted about $350.00 for the kit.

Is there a good online GM parts dealer?

Also, I am thinking about just replacing the glass as BIGMoe suggested. Some of the plastic clips on the back of the mirror are trashed, and the mirror is heated, which means that I'll lose that functionality if I go that route. Pricing is about $15-$30 to have that replaced.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Have you tried looking on ebay, or check at an auto salvage yard? Both may have just what you are looking for.
