Just curious if anyone here has run water injection, if so what were the results.

I ran a water alcohol mix in my supercharged 6.0L. It reduced detonation okay, but is not that good for a daily driver. You have to fill the tank too many times. BTW, I didn't think it would work a diesel, seeing as how a diesel responds to water?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

I have heard of people running water injection and have read some articles on the web. I want to put this on my new engine, I was thinking about an Aquamist system. Hypermax sells them for diesels so I don't think it would be that bad. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley24.gif Just looking to get the EGT's down some, so I can add more fuel.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T install a water injection system.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif

The only thing they do in an application such as ours is beat up the turbo.

Just curious, what kind of water injection system did you have? I have read where other people had a problem with pitting on the compressor wheel due to the fact the water hadn’t turned into a fine mist at the intake.

Tom, Check out Heath Diesl he has done plenty of
water injection systems

Water injection should be done post turbo, no matter the engine. Best place is after the intercooler.

TOMHILL:
While I've never bothered with waterinjection on any D2
application, I firmly believe that the best results
are achieved with only a proper sized intercooler. I've
seen a lot of systems designed, but few that actually
made a huge difference as compaired to an intercooler.
I agree with JOEY D when he said Heath has a good one,
but even Bill himself will admit that an intercooler is
best. The opinion I gave about water injection causing
possible harm to turbos was from a few(quite a few)
turbocharged race engines I've built for various
customers and many experiments I've conducted trying
to get every last ounce of power from them. These engines
were all of the 8 second and faster variety, not street
motors, and not a single one showed any better numbers.
