Allison Transmissions is phasing out its 1000/2000/2400 series also MD 3000 and HD 4000 series automatic transmissions in 2004 and they are to be replaced with the vocational series which is now available. I wondered if anyone knew which vocational model would replace the 1000 series allison now being used in the Duramax. I believe they are just renaming them.

What they are doing is tailoring the transmissions they make to seven different vocations.

For instance if you need a HS trans for your pickup you will get a 1000 series geared for the highway, if you need an HS for your class 8 tractor you might get a MD or HD transmission geared for the highway. Edited by: GMCSID
