programmers that work for the 2006 LLY will also work for the LBZ. Theyre interchangable because the engines are the same (2006 LLY and LBZ are the same, 2004-2005 LLY are completely different).

Remember if you are going to run those programmers on the max/performance setting, you'll need a transmission too.;)

Welcome to the Diesel Place.

PONTIAC , MICH. - Later this year, GM Powertrain will introduce a new 6.6L Duramax 6600 turbodiesel V-8 (RPO LBZ) for the 2006 model year Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD with class-leading horsepower - 360 (268 kw) at 3200 rpm and class-leading torque, at 650 lb.-ft. (881 Nm) at 1600 rpm. In addition to the power increase in the Silverado and Sierra, all 2006 Duramax engines have been significantly revised to deliver lower emissions and significantly improved quietness and smoothness in every application.
The 2006 Silverado HD and Sierra HD with the Allison 6-speed automatic transmission will be equipped with a significantly revised 310 horsepower Duramax 6600 (LLY) through the third quarter of 2005. It will be replaced in these applications in the fourth quarter of 2005, by the higher output, 360-horsepower Duramax (LBZ).

I found this,,, the lly is not the same,,, if im reading it right,,

I think we have determined that all the "guts" of the motors are the same for the 2006 lly & lbz, but they lbz have an update program. I think it is because they found out the block could take more hp. They were not done with their testing by the time the 2006 lly were out. They knew it could take the 310 hp so they left it that way. Later they changed the program & then changed the rpo code. If you do a search, there are a million posts on this also. Some guys claim the 2006 lly with a programer with be better then the stock Lbz. I only have a stock lbz for now. I am waiting for edge to come out bug free. ):h

The '06 LLY and LBZ are mechanically and electrically identical. They are very different from the '05 LLY.

An off-the-shelf catback exhaust for an '05 will not work on an '06.
IT does NOT matter if you have an LLY or LBZ, mods for all '06 are the same.

When you get the Bullydog, it MAY give you a "Part number not found" error.
If you get it, download the latest updates from BullyDog's web site. If that doesn't fix it, then you'll need to contact them and give them your VIN... they'll build you a new revision to include your VIN.

Once you have it, DO NOT go above "Performance" until you do SERIOUS internal transmission modifications... the LBZ can still limp the trans even on tow/econ... the "Extreme" will limp an '06 LLY.

Contact "Fingers" here and order a "Fingers' Stick" and EGR blocker plate (I think it's about $50 total).
Without it, you will likely get a CEL from the intake and exhaust if it's a cat-delete.

i dont think the twin stacks get rid of the cat,,, but i will check on it monday,,, thanks,,,,If the cat stays,,, do u know if the truck will code with the intake and exhaust?

RichLockyer

Possibly.
Some who are towing have reported codes from an intake and catback.

Personally, I can't see why anyone would want to change the '06 intake... it's VERY solid, free-flowing, and a very good filter.
I've got 30k on mine (working construction) and the sensor hasn't budged.

I had an offer to beta test an aftermarket intake and declined.

ok,,, i did'nt know the stock intake was as good as an aftermarket one,,,thanks,,, i'll get pics as soon as i get it all done,,, i work in a body shop, so im doing everything my self. i cant wait till i get the hood done,,, thats going to set the whole truck off,, it will give it some thickness up front.

Pull that cover off and you'll see an alien device that looks to have as much filtering area as a football field :D

It's 100 years ahead of the paper filter (literally).

When i put the intake system on mine, i noticed a mileage increase. No power or noise difference to speak of BUT a mileage increase. Superchips is a decent programer for the LBZ. Bullydog didnt want to load and they told me to send it back.

You probably have codes stored. California and Northeast trucks typically throw a CEL.
You can ignore it, but the problem is than you don't know when you have a real problem.

You also won't pass smog testing with a CEL or stored codes.
