The MBRP "cool duals" sound wicked. Nice deep throaty sound, but yet quiet in the cab. Definetely turns heads when driving. I have been in 2 trucks with them on and was ready to go "chub" fishin after i got out http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif...........if ya know what i mean. Maybe i'll have to get the dual system on my truck soon, and "bling the truck up a little. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Like the guys here said we have the MBRP duals in T-409 and T-304 stainless steel just sitting here waiting for you to call. We are one of the oldest and largest distributors of them and have a pretty large inventory. The sites don't like us to print pricing so visit our site or call us and we will be glad to help you.

MBRP- the duals look and sound awesome. A nice deep throaty tone with some authority.............alot better than the flo pro i had on.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif At highway speeds it is real faint to hear, when you get onto the pedal she barks some, but not excessive. My wife likes them as she thought the other system was a little obnoxioius, and i would have to agree. I will snap a picture tomorrow and post it, for those that want to see what the duals look like. Will have to polish the tips up, for some strange reason they're allready blackened at the ends http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Install of the duals was easy. The hardest part was taking off the old system and getting the collar ring nut loose, as it was jambed up against the tranny and was corroded pretty bad. Thanks to MBRP for an excellent system to make the truck more enjoyable. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

I am very happy with the look, sound, and performance of my MBRP T-304 duals. I have had them on since mid March. The install was a different story. The front flange was off about 3/16th when placed correctly in the hanger on the transmission. The rest of the hangers didn't line up so I had to do some addl. modification. Also the brake lines that run down the driver's side were rerouted to give clearance to the left side cross over pipe. If everything were to have aligned correctly this would have easily been finished in less than an hour from start to finish. I would still purchase them if I were to do it again.

Did you use the 2 rubber hangers that come in the kit at the rear instead of the stock hanger locates???? Mine had no modification to it at all, except had to cut the pipe before the muffler as my truck is only an ext. cab, as it is made universal to fit all configerations.

Sorry to hear or your troubles with the duals install. We have since re written the install instructions for all our diesel exhaust systems, making each install a little smoother. Glad to hear the system is working great for you.

Heartbeat,

There must be something wrong with your truck if the tips are all black inside, you should really get this checked.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

No doubt hey MBRPinc, That Heart beat guy I tell you! he says his truck is fast, but the only reason for that is he puts up this huge smoke screen which doesn't alow anyone to see, let alone try and keep up with him!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I used the two addl. hangers in the rear also. None of the welded hangars came close to the stock locations. The biggest issue I ran into was the front flange connection. The angle was incorrect for my truck. When in place and the clamp on, the pipe touched the bottom of the cab. GRRRRR! With some blood sweat and alot of cussing I got it to an acceptable spot. That would have been the only hangar that lined up correctly. I didn't have to cut to length any pipes. Total install time 4 hours. Please add a brake line reroute comment to your instructions. That was extra added stress to run into after my initial issues.

MBRP on your SSBC brakes did you have to change your master cylinder or add a prop. valve. I put them on my wheeler a few years back and I never was all that impressed. Alot of woo woo factor.Edited by: Los Lobos

MBRP I have an 04 CC/LB Dually and have my system sittin here but before I put it on I want to know will it have enough clearance when I put my drop shackles on the rear. Only 2" drop but I want to make sure. If it wont fit I'll just put on a single exit system.

Los Lobos
05-09-2004, 06:36 PM
Crawler, I got underneath and did some measuring and I think it will be a close fit for you and it looks like you will have around an inch of clearance between the pipe and the axle tube on both sides. I think it would be possible to set the whole system angle up slightly and get you another 1/2 inch too. But that will involve some hanger modifications. The driverside shock would have to be removed for install of that pipe due to limited clearance on a lowered vehicle. Also be prepared to reroute the brake line on that side. The only way to know for sure is to fit it in. It will definately look bad a$$.

Good Luck!!!Edited by: Los Lobos

I don't think you will have any problems getting this systems to work with your dropped shackles. You may want to watch closely if you are towing heavy loads to see what clearance you actually do have.

Please keep me posted on this.

I have the MBRP 4" duals on my truck and they look and sound awesome. I don't get any soot on the body at all.

I did have a little problem with the install. It seems the instructions I had were for a Dodge. I spend an evening under the truck with out being able to get the system on. The next morning I rigged it up so I could drive it to an exhaust shop. My exhaust guy almost gave up but then figured out the outlets on the muffler needed to be top and bottom instead of left and right. (The Dodge instructions show the outlets left and right.)

If I had the right instructions I would have been able to complete the job in around 3 or so hours.

Even with the install problems I'm very happy with the out come. My exhaust looks great. MBRP has a nice quality product. The instructions...

adam,

The Duramax system is pretty quiet in the cab especially if you leave the front pipe alone, you will hear a good deep rumble tone when you put it to the mat, but when cruising it's pretty calm. We are one of the largest MBRP distributors and have all the aluminized, T-409 and T-304 stainelss systems in stock almost all the time. Call us if you have any questions or concerns etc. We are always here to help you.

MBRP, Does the truck that you have in that video have the front pipe or the cat in? Do you have any videos of one with a straight pipe setup? I don't mind the more loudness as long as it's not a drone. I want to be able to tell I have an exhaust on there and to let people know there is an exhaust. Not obnoxiously loud though, don't need cops following me because they heard me a mile away. I can have my windows down and the radio on some and still hear the beast rumbling down the road.

Don't want the bling factor, but after reading how awsome these duals sound I am considering them over the single. Do they sound much different than the single system?

Mark Craig
06-29-2004, 10:00 AM
Z71 Grizzly,

That system has the MBRP front pipe on it. Straight pipe will be so close to the same sound, it's not something you could even tell on a video. Get the system with the muffler and front pipe and you'll be all set. Give us a call if you want we have them sitting here ready to ship.

redneck45,

The sound tone is the same, and the volume is the same, but you'll hear it from the drivers side if you have the window open and that gives the driver the impression it's a little louder because you're used to hearing it from the passenger side on a single system. Give us a call if you have any questions etc.

Mark-

Just curious, what is the issue with the front pipe?? You got me curious, I am still trying to research a quieter 4 inch system to put back on my truck. I need it for EGT reduction while towing, but don't want the attention from noise, the passenger is enough...

I purchased the summit racing 4" system last October, but was too loud, then I replaced the muffler with a magnaflow, still too loud, espiecally when towing. The summit system included the front pipe. It had a bad drone at 1800-2100 rpms right where I tow...

What is the difference between the stock front pipe and an aftermarket 4" pipe with regards to sound??? I just don't want to have to buy another system that I will need to take a loss on to get rid of...

4x4man,

Well I can't get you a scientific answer except to say that if you add the front pipe it sometime (I said sometimes) causes a drone for just some people??? The same system on a different truck and no drone, go figure. If you leave the front pipe stock you lose a little egt reduction, but to date I have never had anyone with the drone with a stock front pipe, again I can't explain why.

Mark @ DPPI

4x4man
07-01-2004, 11:55 AM
Well, I think I am one of those cases...I helped install my summit system with magnaflow muffler on another members truck and it sounded much quieter with no drone and I was left with more questions than answers. Only difference we could tell was mine was an 03, his was an 02. Sounds like cat back might be the key for my truck, even though I do not have a cat...

Now I just have to make a decision...MBRP or TTS....

Thanks for the reply Mark!
