There was a thread a while ago that said GM was working on a new part to resolve the infamous steering shaft "clunk". It was apparently going to be available this Spring. I am not talkinging about the grease kit, intermediate shaft replacement, or bearing kit, but a new final fix.Anybody know anything about this?

If it is available it hasn't been posted here yet. Hopefully soon.

I'd sure like to know about it too. I've had 2 new shafts and 3 lube jobs. And it's still doing it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

Jim, why not have the dealer check the input shaft bearing in the gear box? There is a TSB on it. Later! Frank

Well, I'm impressed; at least 2 people got it (the underlying connotation was I had been screwed! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif).Edited by: JimWilson

Really? I wasn't aware of that. Do you happen to know the TSB number? My dealer is a bit of a PITA, so the more ammo I have the better off I usually am.

HOOT has the only permanent fix. However it comes with all sorts of undesirable side effects. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
