I got oil leak at front of the engine it looks like oil pan gasket right at the front. Previous owner had new pan put in (newer sticker at the bottom) and there is a lot of RTV sticking out on the front. Everything is so oily that I cant really say if its that or front crank seal or timing cover gasket so I think I do it all.

If i drop the front axle few inches would this allow me to remowe the oil pan ?

Chilton calls for removing everything from oil lines, motor mounts to starter and fan shroud. I thing that's excessive and waste of time.

At what mileage people usually replace their chain ?

I had to remove the bolts that hold the motor mounts on the frame to the ones on the engine, lift the engine up, pivot the front axle out of the way, and it was still a pain in the ***. It's nearly impossible to get at a couple of the bolts and it's really hard to get the bolts started at the front of the pan where is bolts to the timing cover.

I had my tranny out doing the clutch. So starter was off too. I didn't have to undo motor mounts but did have to drop the front differential a good bit and pivot it some. It is a PITA! The oil pump pickup tube wants to catch the windage tray. You'll have to work it out just so for it to come off. Good luck.

I don't think these use a pan gasket, just RTV. But, everything has to be clean for it to work.

Are you sure its not the oil cooler lines blowing back on the oil pan?
