I have about 4 cases of Delo 400 in the garage and religiously
change my oil every 4000 miles.
I was getting ready to buy the $6 a quart Honda oil for
our ATV's and decided to see if Chevron had a recommended
equivalent......
I spoke with one of their lubricant techs and they say that
Delo 400 is just fine for the Honda 400 engine!

I run the Delvac 1 5w40 in my diesels and quads. Heavy Duty Diesel oils are well suited for ATV engines that see abuse (not that mine are abusedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif) and highh operating temps...

Diesel oils typically do not contain friction modifiers that can cause clutch slippage under heavy loads. (Newer car oils all contain friction modifiers and should not be used in a motorcycle where the oil is also used for the clutch bath). Also, anti-foam agents usually in oils made for diesels work well in transmissions, etc.
I used delo-400 for a number of years in my XR hondas. Good stuff. Using a synthetic can lead to easier cold starts and less startup wear - but if the bike runs rich for any reason, the oil can become contaminated with fuel and break down very quickly. A good reason to stick with a short change interval regardless of the oil you use. This happened to my best friend running mobil-1 many years back - new cam, rockers, not cheap. now he uses delo and changes it often...

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif I just put some Delvac 1 in my 750cc four stroke outboard motor. I don't run it in my Yamaha quads because of the wet sump CVT. It may work, but I've never tried it.
I'm giving my quads a major workout this week. I'm tearing out my old deck and a couple of trees. Then I'm gonna put in a new deck and do some landscaping. The wheelers are pulling a 1 ton dump trailer and a 8x16 flat trailer back and forth from the backyard to the street. Fun stuff --SS http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
