I installed the power sliding rear window upgrade kit on my truck Sunday!! I must say a worthwhile upgrade for those with the sliding rear window!!! It took a couple of hours to install and get it all buttoned back up but works like a charm!! And talk about pulling a lot of air thru the cab!!:cool2:

I've considered adding one as well but I don't want to give up my rear defrost.

I dont htink ive ever even used the defrost. Im a mirror kind of guy. Id much rather have heated mirrors than a rear defrost. Hows the install look? Pics?

when you say upgrade do you mean you replaced it, or is there some kit I have never seen that upgrades a factory to power?

I was thinking of going thatr route also, but as Max Power says, I kinda like my rear defrost. Comes in handy plowing snow. But the slider is nice for ventilation, or if you have to carry that extra long piece of trim every once in a while..

I ordered my truck with the sliding rear window!! What the kit does is convert it into a power rear slider!! You can order a kit to replace your rear window into a sliding rear also but I am not sure of the cost!!! I went to goodwrench.com and got the part numbers, and then went to my dealer and ordered the kit, they gave it to me at dealer cost also!!!:) I will post up some pics of the motor, switch, and window as soon as I can!! I knew my kids would be messing with the rear window all of the time so with this option I can control the window from a switch on the dash!!!:D :muahaha:

Here are the part numbers!!! This is the number for a 2006 but I would think it would work for other model years also, worth checking into atleast!!!

Sweet!!! :ro)

After leaving the rear window open twice already in the one month I have had the truck, I am going to order the kit today!! Did you install this yourself and if so, was it very hard to install?

Let me get this straight ... your truck was ordered with a manual slider and this kit is an upgrade (motor, slider mechanism, wiring, switch, etc.) to the existing unpowered slider to make it power activated? Or was it a complete glass replacement? Maybe, could you provide a list of what comes in the kit. Also, if you don't mind, what did the dealer charge you? And, of course, where does the switch mount?

My '05 truck came with a manual slider. I also had concerns at the time of purchase about loosing defrost (since you can't really reach back and wipe it off while driving solo in a CC!) My concerns were for naught as I've not had many mornings where it would have been helpful. If there was a kit available to add it (iron on grids or something), I might consider it ... but I digress ... I've thought more about adding a power slider (again, I can't reach the window while driving) and would love to know more of the specifics concerning this mod/kit. THANKS!

Thanks! That answers the retro-to-existing vs. total replacement question. It's a retro-fit kit (as I thought it may have been based on the descriptions - just wanted a confirmation). Personally, I would have to find another location for the switch (saving that spot for a cubby cam or equivalent). Checked gmpartsdirect and they show ~$262 but will not ship glass. Is there any glass in the kit? I'm thinking not. I'm still curious what the dealer charged you (at their cost) if willing to share.

Does GM offer a power slider window for a truck that has a solid glass with rear defrost? I really like the rear defrost as when its cold/cool and has moisture on the back glass, I can heat up the glass and its gone.

The kit you're referring to is to convert your manual sliding window to a power, is that correct?
