I have an 04 / SRW crew, and it says 1993 for MAX payload on the sticker in the glove box.

SO for me in order to find a truck camper light enough to meet these specs, I have to go with some of the smallest campers available.
What are others doing??

I got this info on the 2500HD

So as u can see u got 3550 # of spring capcity in the rear but only 2700# total capacity left.

The 3500 should net u 500# more so around 3200# net.

Sorry I didn't mention the part that yes I have the 3500 4wd

Ok I see Ihave some work to do. The 3806 is impressive and welcomed, but whats driving me nuts i sthat sticker in the glove box that says specifically "truck slide in camper payload limits"
1993 lbs.

I know I put 3k lbs of sand in it and didn't even feel it.

Do you guys have that sticker in your glove box? Another guy on the RV site said that if it wasn't diesel I would have 700lbs more in payload. the deisel and crew cab reduce my payload weight.

I've got the .pdf file that shows how GM calculates the weight rating.

Just don't know how to put it on here.

They have the worksheet to figure it.

They also down rate the rear axle 75% on the 3500 and also - 150# for seat in cab.

The dealer should have the little book that has all the truck camper specs.

GREAT man you nailed it. I want to publicly thank all who have chimed in with help, what a great site, it's like walking into a hometown coffee shop with a bunch of guys you know, but who only drive diesel trucks. You guys ROCK!!!!

For anyone else who needs this kind of kelp
here is the link to the form that Dmax Tim sent me, the least I can do is share the wealth.

How does it figure for your truck?

Kendall69

Here are the numbers. WAY OFF from GMC site.
Gm site said 6, 239 for the weight of my truck, and when I weighed it at the scales they came up with ( are you sitting down) 7,400 lbs. - thst's with me not putting any options on the truck yet.

Granted this is a FULL tank of deisel at 7lbs per gallon or 189 lbs.

Front axel weight is 4,200 lb.
Back axel weight is 3,200 lb.

So with that worksheet I came out with - including passanger weight I get 2,075 lbs for Camper weight.

So looks like the sticker was right on the money at 1,993 lbs.

in order for me to get more camper I have to go on Adkins or drive around with an empty tank of fuel.

Feels good just knowing how they came about getting those figures.

Your lite weight seems way off, mine is around 6700 + 200 for me.

I'd try another scale just to be sure on the weight.

When I get my 9 1/2' camper on I'll have to get a some axle weights.

I got 7280 in my 4x4 2500HD at the scales with me and a full tank of fuel. I also have a 19" tool box and my box of junk like addative, fuel filters, tire plugs, jumper cables (for others), tie downs, etc. I also have a roll n lock and 2 car seats. Real world, I think it is a very realistic number. Gess I can drop that down by the 18 pounds I have lost since then, but that's not much to squable over. Plus I normally have the wife and 2 kids for another ~200. Pretty sad when you weigh more than the rest of your entire family. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Just made a trip out to the landfill this weekend to get rid of an old dishwasher. Full load of fuel, me, the dishwasher, 5'ver hitch truck weighed 7,330 lbs. So, no occupents, no dishwasher, the truck weighs 7,000 lbs for my 2500HD LT CC SB 4x4 D/A with all my additions. I didn't think a 3500 SRW CC would weigh 400+ lbs more.
