I just finished replacing the TH700 in my truck with a junkyard replacement. The replacement was out of a gas truck. I swapped in the governor from my original transmission. The transmission worked, but shifted slightly late and slipped a little bit going into second gear.

Today I went to go somewhere and the truck wouldn't shift out of first gear. I haven't been able to get it to shift since then. It goes into reverse (which has now started to slip a bit) and forward, but won't shift out of first at all. I ran it up to like 30-35 mph and floored and released the gas pedal a few times and it still wouldn't shift.

Is there anything I can do about this? Would this be a valve body problem? If so, what do I do to fix it?

:help: I am getting SOOOOO sick of working on this trans...

I added a couple of quarts of fluid.

It changed a bit since I added the fluid. If I put it in the overdrive position and don't gas it too hard it will shift into second and then shift back down into first after a few seconds. If I put the selector in the 2 position and accelerate from a stop, it will shift very firmly into second gear and stay there. I can not get it to shift into third.

I am almost certain this is a valve body problem.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS. I KNOW THAT SOMEBODY ON HERE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT - PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

Go for the governor first. Pull the gov out, holding it upright by the plastic gear in one hand, compress counter wieghts in and out with other hand and see if valve in the center of gov moves up and down. It must move.

It moves. Also, I tried swapping the governors and it still does it.

What should I look at next?

Thank you very much for the help!

Maybe he could swap in a 5 speed Allison, then convert it to a 6-speed?):h

Sounds like a sticking Throttle Valve to me(the no shifting that is). Is you cable adjusted properly>???
The slipping is a whole nother ball game. Did you install a new filter and fluid before installing the trans>??? How did the pan look, clean, dirty>???
